Unlock The Keys To Success
I think it’s a fair statement to say that most of us are on a quest in our lives to find the sometimes elusive, keys to success. Is there a secret to success? You might look with envy at people you know who just seem to have it all. They appear to have money, maybe a beautiful house, a successful career, so do they know something that you don’t, about finding the keys to success?
An important question that you want to ask yourself is what success means to you. Do you have a specific definition of success, or do you just look at others and desire what they have.
Label Your Success and You Will Find the Keys to Success
If you understand what success means to you, then it’s easier to find the keys to success that relates directly to you. Everyone should have their own definition of success, because everybody looks at success in a different light. For some, having a successful and thriving career means success. Others look at success in terms of possessing money. If you have plenty of money, then you must be successful, right? Not always. You can have lots of money, but lead a very lonely life because you have not built meaningful relationships into your life. Success is not all about having loads of money, and you will come to know that as you gain experience in your life.
Maybe success means fame and fortune to you, or having a unique talent that propels you into the spotlight. Your talent could bring you lots of attention and make you feel popular and needed. That’s another type of success.
When I started out in my career over 20 years ago, all I thought about was, how much money can I make? At that time, that was my interpretation of success. That’s pretty shallow when I think about it now and as the years passed, I learned that success to me meant a whole lot more. Yes money was important and still is, but it has a whole different meaning for me now. Once I had my own personal definition of success, then I became aware that there were keys to success. When you know what your success definition, you can use the keys to success to achieve even greater success.
So What Are The Keys To Success?
Once you know the meaning of success as it applies directly to you and your life that is the first lesson is defining the keys to success.
Let’s take a look at some examples of understanding and building your success.
If you want more wealth in your life and that means success to you, then you have to think about how you will build that wealth. Are you stuck in a mundane job that is going nowhere and has little chance of bringing in lots more money? Then do something about it. Take courses that will enable you to be considered for a higher position, or search elsewhere for a new job. You should think about bringing in another line of income. Do you have a hobby or a talent that could be turned into a business? Start researching on what you could do with that special talent or hobby, and learn to promote it. You need to take steps to find ways of increasing your wealth. That is another one of the keys to success, taking action.
Perhaps having good relationships with those people in your life who mean a lot to you, is a form of success to you. So you want to ask yourself what you are doing to nurture those relationships. Do you make yourself available in times of need? Are you a good listener? Just like everything else in life, being skilful at something takes some work. You have to dedicate time and energy into elevating your success, and that certainly includes cultivating relationships. Without meaningful relationships in your life, the world can be a pretty lonely, cold place.
The next point is pivotal to realizing your success.
Once you identify what success really means to you, and you start taking steps to increase success in your life, here is the one thing that will make or break your success. Never give up on whatever you set out to do. Success doesn’t just magically happen or arrive in your life because you think that you deserve it. You will have success in whatever you set your mind to, if you don’t give up. Millionaires and people who have reached the pinnacles of success in their life recognize this, and employ it into their daily lives as one of the keys to success.
Success comes to those who are diligent and learn to take disappointments in their stride. So many famous people like, Oprah Winfrey, Henry Ford, Bill Gates and Walt Disney faced rejection and failures in their life, but the one thing that led to their astounding success, was they NEVER gave up.
My greatest successes in life came to fruition because I didn’t, and don’t give up when I really want something. No matter what obstacles or distractions entered my life when pursuing my success goals, I never let them stop me. I persevered and found ways around them, and you will too. Let’s summarize the keys to success;
- Identify what success means to you. Give your success a label and it becomes something tangible. Working with something that has substance is much easier than trying to define goals and steps on something that is vague and unclear.
- Once you define your own success name or identities, create success goals around them and start to launch those goals into actions. There is nothing that is more encouraging than checking off those steps to success goals. It is exhilarating to see yourself actually accomplishing those goals and will give you even more drive to succeed.
- No matter what happens, never give up on achieving your success. Enlist the help and support of family and close friends to cheer you on. This gives you a foundation to lean on when you may encounter difficulties. Don’t allow anything to step you. This is the heart and power to the keys to success.
The keys to success are absolutely yours for the taking if you have the dedication, commitment and determination to see it through. Those people that have achieved incredible success in their life aren’t necessarily more talented, or smarter than you. These people just know what they want, are willing to do what it takes to get it.
