Are You Success Conscious – Or Not?
I remember when I first saw those memorable words “Success comes to those who become SUCCESS CONSCIOUS.” That phrase became from the famous book “Think and Grow Rich,” by Napoleon Hill. Those words became etched in my mind and really hit home with me about mindset and success, and how they are unquestionably linked.
Once I truly absorbed the meaning of being success conscious, it really made me aware of my own thoughts and the major impact they have on what transpires in your life. We all want success of some kind, whether it is more wealth, loving relationships or career successes, we all want something. But what are we willing to do to get it? It is not enough to desperately want something and just hope that somehow it will magically appear. It doesn’t work that way. You have to rewire your mind to fully accept that you can have success and wealth and wonderful relationships. You need to become success conscious.
What Does it Mean to Be Success Conscious?
I am certain there are people you know who seem to skate through life, enjoying all the trappings of being successful and wealthy-so why can’t you? Ask yourself this, what are the thoughts that are predominant in your mind every day? If you have debts, are you surrounded by piles of bills, clutter and broken objects in your house? Have you given in to the idea that this is your life and you will just go with it? If you are one of these people, then you need some serious thought transformation. You must literally change your way of thinking, from; this is my life and I accept it, to, this is going to be my life-a life of amazing success.
I think back to the time in my life when my financial picture wasn’t so attractive and things just seemed to be getting worse. I wondered why this was happening to me. I would lay awake at nights worrying about my debts and thinking, I just don’t see a way out of this. I certainly wasn’t success conscious-in fact success was the farthest thing from my mind. I was totally focused on the problem-not finding a solution. I became astutely aware that the more I envisioned the situation as a huge problem, the worse it became. It became so apparent when I read an email the next day.
I was sitting at my desk shuffling through bills and trying to figure out how I was going to make ends meet, and decided to read my emails. My eye was drawn to an email from an old friend named Grant, and the subject line was, “how are you.” I opened the email and the first line was riveting to me. He said, “I always know you are doing and successful well because you won’t allow it to be any other way.” Then I realized what was happening to me. I had fallen into the mind trap that so many people do when times get tough. I had become so engrossed in destructive thoughts around a not so pleasant situation that any thought of success had literally vanished. I decided right then and there that things were going to change. I was going to change and amend my thinking, from negative to positive, and onto success. I was going to find a way out of this situation. I had always been success conscious, so what happened? I knew the answer. I let myself get discouraged and sunk into negative thinking about a problem, instead of knowing that I could find a solution. I just had to refocus my thoughts and take action. I had to believe that just like other times in my life when a problem arose; I found the solution because I was success conscious. I believed in myself and knew that no unfortunate circumstances that came into my life were going to defeat me.
From that moment on I shifted my thinking onto everything positive. I became affirmative and success conscious. Every day I got up with a strong determination and will that could move mountains. I did not allow negative thoughts to infiltrate my mind-I pushed them away with a vengeance, and replaced them with a plan to get out of debt. Not one day went by that I thought I would be beaten, no matter what obstacles came my way. The focus on becoming success conscious restored my faith and belief in myself and gave me a feeling of power that I had not had in quite a while. I loved it and I felt rejuvenated, empowered and unstoppable. I took control. When you become success conscious you will experience a strong feeling of power and control, like I did.
After several weeks of concentrating on becoming success conscious, I devised a debt reduction plan, launched a small business (from a hobby), and my entire life changed. I literally watched as the pile of bills becoming smaller and smaller, and more money started coming in. My smile came back. I realized that success was in my grasp all along, but I had allowed very powerful negative thinking to thwart any chance of realizing success.
5 Ways to Become Success Conscious and Turn Around Your Life
- Become acutely aware of your thoughts – Stop thinking there is no way out. Unless you commit an atrocious crime, there is always a way out. Believe that you can be a success at whatever you do. Release those self-defeating negative thoughts and replace them with devising a success plan.
- Take action – As you are rewiring your thoughts to focus on an outcome of success, you will find your thinking becomes more constructive. This is the time to create a clear goal and begin the plan to make that goal a success.
- Be determined and have stickability-Stick with your plan, no matter what and remember that most people quit when they are closest to achieving their goals.
- Become very focused on your desire – Make the thing you want-your desire, to become the centre of your thoughts everyday. You will start to see that your conscious actions are leading you to your goal. Instinctively you are also being led by your unconscious success thoughts.
- Remember you have the power to change things – Do you realize how powerful you really are? Power and control begin with the mind. That is what leads to actions that result in success.
If you really want to gain more success and prosperity in your life, then take charge and change your way of thinking. Learn how to become success conscious and you will be pretty amazed at what happens when you do.
